As I gaze into the gaping mouth of the shell

The shell opens up &let's me in

Shows me all of it's secrets

Leaves no door unopened

And then leaves them open for all to see

It shares it's pain, it's sorrow

Drowning despair

It weeps for me, cries for me

Like an old friend would

And then it leads me toward the soul

The soul of the pain

A place where no one wants to go but ought to be

I see a glimpse of shimmering life

And then the shell closes up again

Sitting in the palm of my hand, dead

Lifeless

But now I can see

It is as empty as a broken heart

It is a broken heart

Just like me.
