FC Nowhere

I played for the worst football team you can imagine. We lost almost every game we ever played. We got the nickname FC Nowhere as every season we got Nowhere.

There was Baz Briggs in goal who had hands as slippery as a seal. He couldn’t hold a brick let alone a football. At the back were the Slater twins who between them leaked goals like a broken tap. Our midfield general couldn’t trap or pass a ball if his life depended on it, and our striker Tomo scored more own goals than in the oppositions net. Yet despite all of this I miss those boys. We had a team spirit second to none and we played because we enjoyed ourselves. It’s only when you look back that you realise what great days they were. We should have kept in contact but we never did. Life has a habit of moving on in other directions in the blink of an eye.

I bet Baz Briggs is working in the Circus now with the juggling skills he had in goal. Wonder if the Slater twins still look alike? I could always tell them apart as Jack had a mole just under his chin.

Guess I’ll never know now as we are still, as ever, FC Nowhere.
