It is quite mysterious. It is not supposed to be dark. It is to be interpreted differently by each individual. But is most likely to be associated with loneliness.

Paint Stained Walls, Broken Stairs,
Ripped Off Curtains Hanging By Threads,
Mice In the sheets of the fatigued grey steel beds,
Yesterdays Promise hangs in the
air so cold, floorboards squeak,
Moth-eaten pillows on sofas that creak

Half pulled up carpet coated with dust,
Once needed railings beginning to rust.

Holes in a table that used to be grand,
Bookcases of history that all used to stand,
Novels that once people couldn’t put down,
A door off its hinges that once hung a gown.

All four legs missing off a once antique chair,
The stale smell of neglect hangs in the air.

Great holes in the roof where bricks used to be,
Grey, shattered windows where people would see
all of the beauty and notable stance.
Now a ghost of a place with no second chance.
