We originated from darkness before light would ever shine
Not only years ago, but before the beginning of time
In the twinkling of Their eyes
Made in the image of prime
Never meant to settle in a place such as this
I step back; study the picture
Aha! Something’s amiss!
From dust to dust, to Kings and Queens
Slavery shouldn’t amount to a hill of beans
Yet, traded over our rights and our heritage to Ba’al
Doomed ourselves, WE made THAT call
From golden treasures to pot holes and mice
From crowns and jewels to crack pipes and dice
Believing we were in charge, in our own minds
In an economically deprived landscape
Where our dreams were denied
But wait—We doomed ourselves from the start
Blaming this man & that man, Black man own up to YOUR part!
Thus saith the greatest Book of the land
I can trace it back as far as HAM
Observant to what should’ve been unseen to Ham’s eye
It began with Noah and his vineyard as he proceeded to get high
Resulting in the curse of Ethiopia, Son of Ham
Slaves of slaves to his brothers, we’d barely have a chance
Nimrod, the first on earth to be labeled with might
This brother was my brotha, a black man, not white
Sodom and Gomorrah, the Gaza strip
Cursed themselves by themselves, men super glued at the hip
These are our people, we did this long ago
We had the power---
Then we let it go
Now bleeding of nightmares impoverished lifestyles of yesterday
Want to blame someone, I say look towards your history
As I gazed into the crystal ball, back into time
I saw the FUTURE, doctors & lawyers with brown skin like mine
Preachers and teachers that look and feel like me
No crystal ball needed - for this my 3rd eye did see
I know, they came, they took, they stole, now WE’RE HERE
In some of our hearts, even instilled their fear
But this is a different time, a different day
Lives are no longer orchestrated in that age old way
When my people? Well, the time is NOW
Seek deep inside, your aspirations will show you how
Stand tall, stand true, for those that were made black and blue
We all know there’s still so much left to do
Together in unity if we stand as one
We can lift this darkness for our daughters and sons
Never broadcasting blues, yellows, reds and greens
But put into the earth to reign as Kings and Queens
Smell the java black people, take your place
Reclaim your positions as the leaders in this great race!
FOR WE ARE KINGS AND QUEENS, NAMASTE
