Once heard that some people believed if a purple butterfly were to land on your right shoulder, it would bring death. Written when I was 12 as a peace poem .. lol

Dear Purple Butterfly,

Who sets sail with no particular destination in mind

You flutter ever so peacefully, as if you have nothing to hide

I envy your wings that give you balance and freedom

As if time does not matter, you have wisdom to grow from

The rhythm of your hover stays steady, so perfect

Distractions on the path of your flight bear no affect

You stop long enough to only smell the flowers

Never blinded by greed, nor ever ruled by the power

You flaunt your graceful self before me

Leaving me helpless, but to extend an arm

A useless attempt to capture thee

But what good is it to bring you harm?

My hands, already, much too tainted

I join my kind in shame

This image that we have painted;

A sick, dysfunctional game

As long as man kind still walks these plains

I do not believe peace could ever be obtained

Where is our fantasy of eternal bliss?

My hope for this is ceasing to exist

Though you, Purple Butterfly

Who stops for the flowers

My right shoulder invites you to put me to sleep

As my heart begs you, to bring me to peace
