This is a poem based on a real life event. Two drug addicts were found dead outside a 'shebeen' in Western Cape. Next to them lay an empty bottle of liquid Morphine. It was postulated that they accidentally drank an overdose. The owner of the Morphine, who possibly sold it to them, was never found.

Accidental Suicide

“I’ve got great stuff my friend!

My old lady says it always puts her on a trip

This is the Diamond of all drugs”

Their merriment only exceeds their thirst

Two addicts drinking Death with mirth

Darkness their trusted ally,

Cunningly becoming their worst foe

Using the cloak of frost

To abolish them back to dust

Labored breathing ensues

As organs spar for survival

Matter of grey victorious in the brawl

Muscle ultimately relinquish its power

Turbid vitreous occludes the entrance of the soul

A puff of fog life’s final show

Inside an old lady writhes in agony

Cancer’s eating her body alive
