The Creative Mind
People always seem to enjoy expressing their opinions of me- the things I write, say, do, and just generally the way my mind works. Some people admire or envy it, and others
simply think me insane or stupid. To me, it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks. The ones who envy me I believe are short sighted because they have their own way of thinking too, it doesn’t
make mine better. To the ones who think I am insane or stupid, I pity because they just don’t understand what I think, which also, does not make it right or wrong.
I know that everyone is different, however I also know I have a particularly different view of the simplest notions
in life- when people look at the moon, they see a hunk or rock. When I look at the moon, I envision explorations and different worlds and see everything that is unseen and hidden by the moon’s
reflection. When people think of the wind on a crisp winters’ day, they shiver. When I feel the wind play at my face, I think of all the faces it has touched before me and everyone it
will contact after me. I think of all the tinny particles, and I see all the things those tinny particles can do when they are in numbers. Whenever I think of walking, I don’t think of
moving my leg after the next, and I don’t think of my destination, but of the air and the ground and all the life that surrounds me. Sometimes I cannot fall asleep at night, because I just
have too many thoughts running though my mind, to many pictures flaring up in front of my closed eyes.
As I was walking home from school today, music on full blasting in my ears, I made up a very simple, comprehendible
quote to sum up most of what goes on in an artist’s mind for both the writer and painter.
“Give me an image and I will paint you a picture- Give me a sentence and I will write you a story- Give me a dream and I will create your reality.” ©
