This was supposed to be loosely related to war but I chose to focus on the emotions it causes rather than a description of it.I hope that you might think that I was able to portray some of the emotions involved in it, enjoy!

Good night

We lingered there t’ill dawn had emerged,

Starved,

Stricken by the harsh cold,

The harsh indifference we had been forced to assemble,

And it was then that we advanced,

It was then

In the crisp first light of day;

In mourning due,

In still silence,

In sorrow and anguish

 That we advanced.

Fears put to one side,

Dreams put to another,

Yet we didn’t forget, we couldn’t.

The same despondent fate waited for us

As heaven waits for a soul,

As flowers wait for the sun.

And we believed so,

We believed that this shared fate

Would condemn us in the depths of our hearts,

We had bared this shadow since the first day

And we had bared it t’ill the last.

We inhale the threads of hope we had failed to embrace,

Take with us words of which we could not find before,

We did not go gentle,

We shall not say good night.
