This is one of the very few stories of mine that are Positive... I belong to the drama troupe 88685(: Recently I went to State competition, that took place in Melbourne, Florida. My Monologue recieved a Superior, which meant that I qualify for Nationals. And My Duet Scene recieved a Excellent, which is the 2nd best thing out there :)

There it was; my chance to make myself and my parents proud of me. The feeling was amazing. Having my best and only friend by my side sharing my happiness. Our fate in the hands of experienced strangers. Our goal: laughter.

All confidence I had up until that moment had vanished and was now replaced with nervousness. As our mouths were moving and the scripts were floating out of our mouths, I felt as if my mind was empty. Pure concentration. It was as if I were part of the audience, analyzing my every move carefully. Critiquing our every action. My crossed legs shaking from the anxiety, and my awkward nervous laughter dying to burst out. A single joyous laughter is all I needed to feel at least slightly comfortable.

The mere mention of our troupe numbers allowed me to become possessive. I was allowed to say, "I am part of Troupe 88685." I had the right to point across at my troupe and say, "I belong there." This experience is not something that could be taken away from me. It is my memory, and it will stay there. No need to share.

The announcement of our acting receiving an excellent, and my monologue receiving a superior brought a wide, bright smile upon my face. Strangers saw potential; I just saw a nervous wreck. But those pins now serve as a reminder that I should believe in myself, and that I should not judge myself strictly. That would only push me past the point of comfort, and that would not affect my acting incredibly.

As for now the only thing I am able to do is eagerly wait for state competition to arrive. There I will revive the emotions that filled me with such adrenaline. There is where I feel at home and at ease. "And I proudly represent Troupe 88685!"
