On Our Way to School

Poem by: yazz4youu

Summary

Nothing like a smile on a kids face while they go to school. Kids are so observant and sometimes I think we take that for granted.

Mah names Joey and I'm ten

Mah house is green and mah pet is a hen

I walks to school ever'day

With a smile on mah face and hat mades of hay.

I love walkin', it's mah favorite things ta do

I walks for three miles with mah sista Sue

We talks the whole time and plays and laugh

But once we sees the road to school we break off.

I'm in fifths grade; she in seconds

And when the bell rings for lunch we meets ta eat cajuns

Then the day's ova and we walks again

A smile on our faces and lips of sugarcane.
