 A Winter Victorian Snippet

"How are you fending, my dear Lady?  The hours are frosted by November airs but in their chill lies the expectation of a happy Christmas.

I find myself yet winding the wide ribbons over brown packets, watching the assemblage of such merry treasures, those which slowly fill

the corner of my room.  As expected, one has settled: your title on its holly facade, surprises hidden within.  Would that all festivities arrive

sooner---rather than late.

But until then, I remain your fondest friend:Lady Elaine."
