I Wish You Were Wrong

I wish you were wrong

At least, then, you’d belong

With me

As, at long last, I do

But you are you, there's no denying

But that's OK too.

Because they can keep their rubies and sapphires

Their diamonds and pearls

Because the only precious stone to me

Is you.

Because you

You are my rock, my strength my truest friend

When I sink you are the rock at sea bed that says swim

And I know to be unique is to be lonely

But I see you your face, I see a mirror of my past

Of all I once was

I see our light

Bending towards a future

Of endless possibilities, of lazy nights, time well spent

Because we spent it together

There will be those who doubt your Faithfulness

Your intentions

Your existence

But I see you

I see all of you, the man you were always meant to be

Because you know

To be right

To be wrong

To be is to suffer

But that’s why you have me

Your rock

And with all the pressures that have surrounded our world

We have fused.

Become one, as I knew we would when we met on that snowy day

All those years ago

So here's to you

Here's to us

And here’s to the 80 years.
