This is the sequel to A Monster. I would highly suggest reading that first, but it's okay if you don't 'cause it wasn't very much and you'll probably catch on soon enough. Enjoy!

Matt woke up with a splitting headache in a dark room on a cold floor. He could hear, as if from far away, voices. They were whispering in hushed tones.

"Don't kill him, you can't. I can help him. I can, you'll see!"

"I will see how he is, and then I will give you my final verdict."

He opened his eyes, which were still adjusting to the dark. He was in a large steel cage with about five padlocks on the front of it. Looking around, Matt saw Jess in a cage just like his across from him. He scrambled onto his knees with a start, grabbing the bars to steady himself. There was a strange woman in front of Jess who had long black hair that went down to her waist and was clad in a dark red dress. She had a red crystal in a golden chain around her neck and a very pale complexion.

The pale woman spoke. "Oh, look Jess, he's awake. Now we can talk to him, won't that be just lovely?"

Jess shook the bars helplessly. "If you touch him I'll, well I'll... ooh, don't you dare kill him!"

"Why are you going to kill me?" Matt asked quietly.

The woman looked at him with destain. "Why wouldn't I kill you? You're weird. And gross. But you are ripped when you change in the night, I'll give you that." She sighed and sat down in a nearby way too large armchair. "The world will be a much colder place when you're dead."

Jess was glaring daggers at the strange woman. "Let him go, you sadistic freak!"

The woman put on a mock hurt expression, placing a hand on her chest. "Sadistic, yes. But freak? I'm surprised at you, going around with him and calling me a freak!"

Before Jess could retort, a loud roaring sound that sounded like a mix between a lion and an angry badger. Matt winced and stuffed his fingers in his ears, and Jess got a distressed look on her face. The woman got up and opened a wooden door at the far side of the room. "That's my que! I'll see you two compadres when it's time for you to die, so toodles until then!" With that she slammed the door behind her and was gone.

Once the woman was gone, Matt looked around some more. It seemed that they were in some sort of barn room, for the walls were painted a faded red with white stripes and the floor was covered in hay. He looked over at Jess, who was slumped in the corner of her cage.

"Who was that?"

Jess rubbed her eyes. "That was a lady called Lilith, who makes it her business to kill people like you."

"You knew all along?" Matt asked incredously.

"I can kind of tell. And I kind of followed you at night, when you changed. To make sure you didn't kill anybody."

"So you stalked me."

"I don't like to put it that way."

Matt sat and thought for a while. Then he asked, "Do I really get ripped?"

Jess blushed. "Let's turn this conversation to other more important topics, shall we?"

"Well, all right." He would take that as a yes.

Jess examined the lock on her cage. She took a pin from her back pocket, slipped it in the lock, and jiggled it around. Soon a loud click was heard, and the lock dropped to the floor with a loud clank.

Matt winced. "Can you not be so loud?"

Jess looked up. "Oh, it's no matter. She didn't even search me before she put me in here; that means she's either dumb or wants us to try and escape. I told you, she's sadistic."

After crawling out of her cage, Jess started working on Matt's locks. "If she meant for us to escape, then why did she put five padlocks on my cage?" he asked.

Jess grunted as she wiggled her pin around in the lock and shrugged. "I don't know. She likes locks? Probably for aesthetics."

No sooner than she had said that then the last lock clanked to the ground noisily. Matt crawled out and stood up, stretching. Jess was already opening the door and peering out cautiously. She beckoned to him and he followed her out into a long and dark hallway, lit by a single torch. Hastily Jess took it down from it's sconce on the wall, murmuring, "I don't know what she was thinking, putting up torches in a wooden barn."

Matt opened the first door on his left. In a corner huddled a large, hairy form. It looked up and Matt could see a large, dog-like snout and ears on it's humanoid face. Small, dark eyes peered at them. It had a large chest and well-muscled arms that were wrapped trembling around equally well-muscled legs. It's feet had long, curved claws where nails would be.

Matt breathed out in awe. "Wow. If that's what I turn into, Lilith was right. I do get ripped."

Jess punched him lightly in the arm. "Could you please drop the subject? I swear, you're about to be killed and you're more happy now than I've ever seen you!"

Matt thought about this. She was right, he was acting playful and excited. But why not? He felt at home in this dark hallway, more at home than anywhere else. He was discovering who he was.

A voice broke into his thoughts. It was Jess, examining the creature before them. "Is that Bill? From our fifth period?" she asked, and Matt looked closer at it. It was indeed unmistakably Bill.

Bill cringed and curled up tighter. "I don't want to be seen like this." he whimpered.

Jess spoke comfortably to him. "It's okay, don't worry. You can escape now."

But the huddled figure in the corner only started shivering. "No. She'll catch me. She'll do horrible things."

Jess gestured for Matt to follow her out, and he softly closed the door behind them. They walked to the end of the hallway to where there was a larger door than the others. Jess positioned herself on one side of the door with her hand on the handle. Matt took up the other side. With a nod to Matt, she quickly swung the door open to confront what was on the other side.

This is getting quite interesting. I wonder what Matt actually is. I really don't like Lilith but it was runny how she mentioned ripped and then Matt kept going on about it. I'm glad they escaped, but now what? Well, whenever you publish the next part of this story, just tell me and I'll read it :)

Gotcha, that's a can-do. I'm glad that you like this, at first I was a bit nervous it wouldn't be right for me 'cause it's kind of borderline horror, but it seems like it's doing fine.

Nice! " If she meant for us to escape, then why did she put 5 padlocks on my cage?" - Good line!
