Chapter. 1 “Mum, why is the fire blue?” I asked. “It’s not blue! Your just going insane!” My sister yelled. “I asked Mum, not you!” I yelled pointing to my sister. Mum gave us a look. “Sorry” I mumbled. “So mum, why is it blue?” I asked again saying it slower for my evil sister to understand.“ M.J., it’s blue because its so hot. The heat makes it blue.” mum said. “I knew that,” my sister said, “and besides, Shouldn’t M.J. be old enough to know that? She’s almost 11! But I forgot she doesn’t act her age but 5 years less! Oh sorry ‘Mary Jane’ I forgot, thats 5 years old!” she said gesturing her fingers with the number 5. “ Jordan! Can you be anymore mean to your... “ mum stopped. Tears welled up in her eyes. She left the room. “Look what you did!” Jordan yelled at me. “Look at what I did? I did nothing! You did something!” I yelled back. Then I heard the car pull up. “Dad!” I yelled and ran outside, and hugged him. “Dad I missed you so much and there is so much to talk about and how long has it been since I saw you last and...” He covered my mouth and said, “ How about let me talk?” I nodded. I couldn’t help my self, I missed him so much. He had been gone on a 3 and a half month business trip around the world. I had only heard from him 3 times (per day). When we got inside Mum was still in her room crying. I could hear her, though the walls weren’t that much sound proof, but i still didn’t know why she was sobbing. Dad ran into see mum and she stopped crying. Maybe that’s what she was crying about! Dad has been gone and she missed him! I thought. My dad said something. I didn’t know but it must have been very scary, sad or something else to make my mum start crying again. Finally after a half an hour of mum crying she finally stopped and came out. “Girls, can you go up to your rooms? Me and Dad need to talk.” mum said choking back a sob. I nodded and started to head to my room up on our second floor. Jordan followed and together we headed up the stairs. Im not that good at being held back, what I mean is, if someone tells me not to do something I do it anyway. So I was tired of sitting in my room, then I heard my mum yelling. “She isn’t her sister! I’m not her Mother and your not her father! She will be killed once they come!” she yelled at dad. I was so scared that it was about my sister. I didn’t want her to be killed. But if it wasn’t her it had to be me. Then that means I’m going to get murdered. So a month had passed and no one had died. But on the news a very bad thing happened. “We are live in L.A. where everything seems to come to chaos.” the news lady said. Behind her there were people fighting, and things blowing up. I was scared out of my pants. “There are bombers’ blowing up homes of innocent people. I’m getting something... I have just got a warning saying, ‘EVACUATE YOUR HOMES FOR YOU TO STAY ALIVE.’ There is a evacuation team coming threw and getting people out of their homes.” My mum just stood there. Then stared to cry. My sister joined her. Being 13 she should be able to not cry at something so stupid. So maybe it isn’t that stupid. People really did evacuate their homes. My best friend Emily left 2 days after the warning. I didn’t even get to say good bye. People were leaving their homes to go to relatives far away. But after a month of people leaving town, it began to grow from state to state. Soon every one would be gone except for me, Jordan, mum and dad. Maine was already half empty, but our home stayed the same. We couldn’t go to school because all of the teachers left. My mum home schooled us wile dad went hunting. We were running out of time. I knew that if we didn’t leave we would all get killed. The day came so quick. But I found my birth box under mum’s bed. “I’m adopted?!? Why didn’t you tell me?” I yelled to mum. “I didn’t want you to know, we didn’t know where you really came from!” she yelled back. “Didn’t know where I came from? What about my papers? My birth box, is that all you have? The only information?” “We have to go! The invasion will begin soon!” “What invasion?” “I cant explain. They’re coming for you! “So thats what you know?!? Wait what?” “They are coming for you!” She yelled pointing at me. “Mmme?” I stuttered. “Yes, you!” I started to cry. People were coming for me what else was I to do?
