The silence was almost soothing as she lay there listening to the slow beating of his heart. Her head on his bare chest, there hands inter-locked, the sun beating down upon them, stroking each others thumbs. She was finding this hard to believe. What had she done right?

As she sat up she felt as if she didn’t even need to speak a single word. What was so hard to say between them was being said through their longing gazes. Everything she had ever wanted to say to him had just been said in a matter of seconds simply by looking deeply into his sparkling blue eyes. She abruptly snapped out of her trance, she looked once again at him, he was smiling. As she lay back down on his bare chest resuming her position directly above his heart he looked down and lightly kissed her forehead. Her lips parted into a smile and she remembered what she had read many times “the smallest of things exchanged between two loved ones are the most meaningful” and they were completely right, one thousand kisses and a dozen or more roses could not have made up for that one precious moment. She closed her eyes and drifted off into a light sleep.

She was in love.
This was real
