My fingers lie cold in crisp night air,

occupied by tasks made inconseqential

by your absence.

Leaves rustle,

the tender voices on long limbs,

whispering sweet nothings

from your lips to my ears.

Distance begets hardship,

but through patience we prevail.

Love stirs within my weary flesh,

so sleeping alone in the cold,

you may still warm me.

Eyes closed, breathing soft,

you cover me in remembered heat,

passions flame igniting a fire

to light the night.

To light the night,

and lead me home,

to your heart.
