This is a song I wrote about a soldier's wife who got left by her soldier while he was over seas. The inspiration was the thought that there ought to be a song where the guy left the girl, not the other way around.

A/N: No, the mother's name is NOT Jane. It's like a dear John letter, but the opposite.

G.I. Jerk

The love of my life

had to go over seas

In my stomach, I carry his child

Six months he's been gone

Six months ago we shared our last kiss

Now this letter in the mail

That begins Dear Jane

You're such a G.I. jerk

How could I lose your love?

What will our daughter think?

What can I tell her?

It told of your new love

Said she was your true love

It hurt me and I wrote back to you

You're such a G.I. jerk

How could I lose your love?

What will our daughter think?

What can I tell her?

(Spoken)

Many years passed and you never wrote back

My daughter she found that letter

And she asked me why the person who wrote it didn't love her

I didn't answer, so she asked who had written it

(Sang)

And I said to my dear Jane

He is just a G.I. jerk I used to know
