The winter in Bangladesh was generally considered as pleasant.Usually lifestyle change in this season and many activities like, visiting countryside with family and friends, picnic, travels, sightseeing, festivals, fairs, ceremonies take place in this season.

The winter in Bangladesh was generally considered as pleasant.Usually lifestyle change in this season and many activities like, visiting countryside with family and friends, picnic, travels, sightseeing, festivals, fairs, ceremonies take place in this season. Many exotic and indigenous vegetables and fruits give the markets a colorful look and consumers make delicious  food items. One special activity in the winter of Bangladesh is making of various types of country cakes(locally called pitha) with rice, coconut, molasses made from the sap of  date palm, spices and many other ingredients.People generally relish these traditional food items when the invasion of imported foreign and locally machine made  packaged food items flood the market.

Foreign tourists also enjoy the pleasant winter weather of Bangladesh as it is almost similar to the summer of the west. This is why many foreigners from  the whole world and the migrant Bangladeshi people visit Bangladesh during winter.Cool temperature without any trouble of mud making rain give  delightful experience.

But,this winter that has started in December,2012 and rolled to January,2013 is different.Several cold waves have crippled the life of common people. They are struggling frantically to protect themselves from the bite of the shivering cold. Most people lack  sufficient warm clothing and this they are helpless in the foggy and wintry weather. Many children and old people have fallen victims of biting cold weather.News media reported 22 cases of death of humans up to 10 January.2013 .

The temperature in this winter has been recorded as the lowest in 58 years.Though the variation of temperature in different areas of the country may present a wrong picture about the severity of cold wave in particular places. The lowest temperature recorded in Dinajpur on 9 January,2013 was 3.2 degree Celsius while the highest was recorded in Cox’s Bazaar which was 11.8 degree Celsius.

Historically, the lowest temperature was recorded in Bangladesh in Srimangal, Moulvibazaar. The temperature was 2.8 degree Celsius and the day was 4 February,1968.The cold  temperature is mostly influenced by  various phenomena of weather. It has been observed that the adverse effects are many. Many kinds of diseases affect people in cold weather, domestic animals suffer badly in such weather.Crops like paddy  and potato production are badly affected by cold weather. The seedlings of winter paddy, called Boro rice get stunted by severe cold while potato may be damaged by fungal diseases like early and late blight.Mustard is another major crop of Bangladesh of winter which adds beauty to the nature by  its vast expanses of yellow flowers. This crop may be devastated by the attack of an insect pest called Aphid in the foggy weather.

The winter is one of sixvital  seasons of  Bangladesh. It would be a blessing unless the the people is devastated by cold waves.

This year the cold waves are biting hard causing great sufferings to peoples.Should we view the current winter as any indication

of climate change?I welcome the opinion of  experts in this discipline.

I will continue to update this article on the basis of real situation and opinion of experts.

Protect themselves from the bite of the shivering cold" you write and are a good read too it's almost like your writing three things in one story but very well done indead" there's a bit of poetry , there's knowledge for people like me who knows what is hot and cold etc etc
So I now know it in degrees thanks to you, you also highlight the damage and impact this biting cold is doing to your country I feel over privalleged , in many ways for the way we take so much for granted , like the central heating, gas fires, cosy beds and blankets that block out our cold, it obviously shows you care a lot about your country's plight and you've highlighted that very well. Sometimes were to wraped up in our own world that it need and takes a person as brave as yourself to try and tell the world! Right " and no one who's not in or been in that position themselves want to hear, read, or write about it, it's hard for some peple to imagine in many ways to as your country is usually mild at this time of the year, but if it's got to that stage where it's crippled the life's of so many people who are struggling frantically ( your words ) Just- and I don't mean that light heartedily as the word ' Just ' sounds like I'm refer'ing it as simple and easy situation which is not as you clearly state if people have to protect themselves which sadly ly leading to a death toll that you also stated, just! Thro lack of sufficent clothing and warmth , that is so so sad and hard to know , these necessities your country lack for those who are suffering are simple ? Things we once again take for granted, bedding and clothes can be easily collected and sent to your country but I'm afraid for you to do that you can't just right about it you have to make a " PLEA " and I will help you all the way ,as the saying goes if you don't ask you don't get so ask the kind people on booksie to donate what they can whether it be in money or clothing everything helps " and if you have a Facebook account ask on there to and get every one who's on it to pass the word on to others so on and so forth if your catching my drift, you do this and I will help you all the way into how these goods can be gathered and sent to your country is a piece of cake so to speak , so please , please, do get back to me on this it's not an issue you can just ignore , you highlighted it very well so please now take that first step towards asking ( we ask things of god all the time and some times our prayers are answered and some times there not, but that doesn't mean we turn our back on him, god works in mysterious ways to and if he doesn't answer them straight away doesn't mean that he doesn't care as where there's a path there's a way and some times you have to find that way by asking just like you'd easily ask someone for directions ) so once again I'm not pleasing you ! Am asking !!! You !
To ask to.

Hi zainual, I came on your page to see if you had any more of your work to read, and then saw the sweet comment ud left for me, I honestly had no idea and if I had known I'd have responded ( you thankfully read my story ' it matters ' and by not responding to your comment seems as tho I was a hypocrite to have written but thankfully I know I'm not and I just don't know how to check out any feed back I am given thro another author. You are a saint to have waited so long for my reply I myself don't know if I could be that patient to wait for such a lenghtly reply, but I'm going to start and give people the benefit of the doubt now and wait for as long as it takes for a reply as I know now that people's situations change day to day, month to month, etc, even I come under this category, so I'm sorry for the belated reply to you & apart from that I hope you are enjoying the hot weather of your country now and if you could rite abot the season change of your country I'd definetly read it & I will gladly look in to your website, so I say bye to you for now my friend & keep in touch & so will I ..........:)
