Hi. My name is Ewan. I am currently a junior in high school and I think I'm sixteen.

I live in an apartment on the thrid floor of the building. It's okay, I guess. My parents traveled a bunch, so they wern't here often.

So today is a special Saturday. Do you want to know whay? Probably not, but I'm going to tell you anyway. Prom is tonight. It's the one night my parents actually decided to spend a little money on me. They payed for my date and I to get in and for my tux rental. That pretty much going to be my birthday present for the next century.

So right now I'm in front of the full length mirror that my parents had randomly place in the middle of the living room. The most exciting part about my tux was that the vest and tie were an emerald green, the exact same colour as my eyes. I quickly finished getting ready, making sure my medium length light brown hair fell the way I wanted it to and headed to the door.

I was in the lobby when my best friend, Alex, came out of the apartment elevator in his tux. It was pretty much the same style as mine, only purple in colour. Yeah, we didn't want to have the same styles, but our dates picked our clothes out for us. It was like we were three again. Yes, we've known each other for that long, and we've been each other's best friend for that long.

Anyway, Alex had curly, golden hair, with some of the tips hilighted silver, and light violet eyes. His tux pretty much made him look amazing.

I sighed, knowing that I probably shouldn't be thinking about what I was thinking about. He was straight, and that settled the matter.

"Shall we get into the limo?" Alex asked, gesturing towards the door of the lobby. I nodded and we left the building. Alex opened the rear door of the limo for me and I quickly slid in. Soon, we were off to pick up our dates.

***************

Ewan and Alex were five, in Alex's room watching the boy's favourite cartoon, when Alex's mum came in and told them that it was getting late and it was time for Ewan to go home. Both boys wined and begged and pleaded that Ewan could stay for five more minutes. Despite how cute they boys were with their puppy dog faces, Alex's mum didn't give in.

Ewan and Alex eventually walked out together, both pouting. When Ewan was about to walk out the front door, Alex grabbed the other boy's hand. Ewan turned around and was quickly embraced in a tight hug from his best friend. Ewan hugged back and soon Ewan was walking down the hall. He looked back to see Alex standing outside the door. That was the first time Ewan felt something... something special. He was to young to know what those feelings meant, but he would never forget them.

***************

I looked over at Ewan as we sat at the back of the limo together. We were talking about how much fun they were going to have and wondering how their dates were going to look. We had both asked out childhood friends, girls that we had known for almost as long as we've known each other. Despite us wondering about how great our dates would look, I couldn't help but think how great Ewan looked.

***************

Ewan and Alex were seven and were playing ball in the park. Alex's parents were a little way over, sitting on a bench. The boys were laughing as they played with the ball.

Alex's parents had left briefly to get some ice cream, Alex was running to kick the ball when he tripped over the root of a tree, falling hard. Ewan ran over to his friend to see tears form in Alex's eyes, though it looked like he was trying not cry. Ewan dropped down next to where Alex was kneeling, putting his arm around the other boy's shoulder and bringing him in close.

Alex put his head on Ewan's shoulder, and Ewan could feel Alex's heartbeat. Eventually, Alex calmed himself and the boys got up. Ewan felt particually happy that he was able to comfort Alex. But Ewan was really excited that he had been able to get so close to Alex, to have a reason to actually put his arms around the other boy.

***************

Eventually, we got to the building where our dates, Helena and Elizabeth, lived and Alex and I went our seperate way for a few minutes. Soon after we had our dates on our arms, we were back in the limo, driving towards the school. All of us were laughing and enjoying ourselves. As was common when Iwas with him, though, I couldn't keep my eyes off Alex. He looked absolutely stunning and I just want him to be mine. Is that a crime?

***************

Ewan and Alex were ten, playing video games in Alex's living room. Alex won the game they were play eventually and Ewan started to pout. He had always been a soar loser. Alex saw Ewan and started to hug him tightly, putting all the emotion he could into that hug. Ewan hugged back and they stayed like that for a while.

That was the first time both boys had suspicions that they wanted to be more than friends. They were still to young to fully know what was happening, but they both loved each other without knowing it. They were just to shy, even with each other, to tell the other boys their true feelings for him. They soon went back to playing the video game, unaware that Helena and Elizabeth were in the door, watching them.

***************

The limo soon pulled up to the school gym, and we quickly got out. I was the first one ot the gym door, so I held it open for Helena, Elizabeth and Ewan. We entered to loud music, blinding lights and a buch of crazy teens that were already there. Since neither of us liked dancing, Ewan and I ended up on the upstairs balcony, looking down onto the dance floor at everyone who was dancing.

"This is so lame,"Ewan said.

I nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Idon't really see the point."

Ewan laughed. "The only good part about tonight is getting to wear these tuxes."

"Ha, you're right," I said. I looked at Ewan. "You look amazing, you know?"

Ewan blushed a bit. "Thanks," he said quietly. "So do you."

I blushed. Wow, both of us blushing was really awkward.

"Alex?" Ewan said quietly.

"Yeah?"

"There's something I want to tell you," Ewan said shyly.

"You know you can tell me anything," Isaid, smiling at him.

Ewan smilied back. "I've always been lucky that you've been my best friend."

"That isn't luck," I interrupted.

"Whatever," Ewan said. "Anyway, I'm glad that you've alway been beside me and support me in everything I do."

"That's what friends are for," I said, giving Ewan a small push. "That, and annoying the hell out of each other."

We both laughed.

"That's true," Ewan said. "But, yeah, over the past few years, I've finally come to realize something."

"And what's that?" I asked, my heart starting to beat fast. If he was about to tell me what I think he was about to tell me, this would be the best day of my life.

Ewan looked down and muttered something.

"Huh?" I asked, not catching what he said.

Ewan was quiet for a moment.

"I want to be more than best friends," Ewan said. "I love you."

***************

Ewan and Alex were thirteen when Ewan finally realized his true feelings for his best friend. Him being gay came as a surprise to him, and he hoped that one day he would be able to be proud of who he was. But for the moment, he was going to keep his sexuality the only secret that he had from his best friend. That is, until he found the right moment for him to tell Alex. That would be a great day, if he ever found the courage.

***************

"I love you Alex," I said. "I have for years."

For a moment, Alex had only a stuned look on his face.

Then he said something I didn't expect: "I love you to."

It was my turn to have a stunned look on my face. What luck!

"So, now what?" I asked, getting close to Alex.

"I don't-" Alex started. Before he could continue, Helena and Elizabeth came up to us.

"Just kiss each other already!" Elizabeth said.

"You've both been wanting to for years," Helena said, "so just do it."

We both looked in shock at them. Then we took their advice: we kissed and began the rest of our lives together as each other's boyfriend.

I guess the night of prom wasn't so bad at all.

Note from me: I'm sorry about the problem with the italiazation, but Booksie is being annoying. Iwill try to fix it eventually, if it makes anyone feel any better.

I hope everyone liked the story!
