NIGHT’S MUSE

The sun’s graceful farewell to dusk
Pervades the air with musk
Under night’s intoxicating essence
Blooms a flower of unequaled fragrance.

It is She, the Mistress of Darkness
Who spreads her love boundless.
Amongst mortals, dreams she sows
That gives silence to our sorrows.

The eye surrenders to her gentle caress
And to her yields our distress.
Soft under her enticing kiss
All woes give way to bliss.

In a timeless embrace against her breast,
As safe a haven as a bird’s nest,
Her siren songs our senses lull,
On worries we cease to mull.

By our side she remains
As long as night reigns
The smile of dawn chases her
As day resumes its clamor.

She fades in the blink of an eye
For Day’s allure she cannot vie.
It is She, the Mistress of Darkness,
Sweet Sleep ever full of litheness.

With patience, again she awaits
To tempt us with her honeyed baits.
