A Letter To The Future 'Zebra'

Dear Future 'Zebra',

There are many things I hope for you to be and there are many things I hope for you to have. I just wanted to tell you that at the young age of fifteen, these are the hopes I had for you. The most important thing I hope for you though is to have love. I hope you're positively and absolutely in love. I hope you're happy together, with a beautiful home that expresses who you both are. I hope he's amazing. He has to treat you well, be honest, and be absolutely beautiful on the inside. His heart needs to be pure and it has to be only meant for you.

Another thing I hope for is your happiness. I want you to always be smiling and laughing when things turn wonderful. I don't want you to dwell on the sad things that life brings, but instead realize that they aren't worth moping about and move on. I hope that you've learned to stop making things more difficult than they seem already and just get things over with. I want you to be able to smile on your own without help from anyone else. You've hopefully learned your lesson that the past needs to remain in the past and your future is something to look forward to, just as I'm doing now.

I hope you have everything you need. You've stayed in school, right? I'm sure of it. An Honors student wouldn't quit school, would they? Did you get a good job? Do you have a bakery or are you an interior designer? I hope that you love your job and you earn enough to live comfortably without having to scrape by. Your mother payed all the money she owed back to you, didn't she? I hope so. I hope you don't have to go hungry and have a roof over your head. If you have to scrape by, then you at least have love, right? That is, if the first hope comes true.

What I hope most of all though is that you don't have any regrets. That's been my motto for a couple years now-- "No Regrets". Do you regret anything? Is there anything that I'll have to watch out for? I wish that you could write back and warn me. I hope you haven't let your true love get away, and I hope you have several friends. If you could write back, it would be wonderful. We could talk about all your memories and how life is like now. I suppose though, that we'll just have to wait for the day I meet you, when I become you and you become someone else.

With all my hopes,

Amanda 'Zebra'
