I have a body of work that I call Snap Shots, they are short pieces of writing about people I have met or known. They should give the picture of how I saw that person at that point in time.

We used to be together, all the time, where one of us was the other would always follow. We were in love, full on passionate, biting, scratching, hair pulling love. We argued, we fought, and we made up. Your skinny arsed, muscular body always all over me. My drawing, jewellery, my art all over your body decorating you?

You controlled, tortured and manipulated me. Broke my heart over and over. I jumped through hoops, while you made me crazy by jumping off of buildings. I thought I was broken forever.

Now I have moved you from the picture frames around my room to a shoe box under my bed. I don’t want to forget, I just couldn’t handle the constant reminders. I know where to find you that you are always there. So when I want to reminisce I can open up and peak a glimpse of things before.

We are now friends, but it took a long time, to get there. Not a normal friendship, but nothing about us two will ever be normal. Stealing secret kisses, pushing each others buttons. Finding ourselves still the same. Still compatible, still feisty, we fight one another with easy smiles. No biting, scratching an hair pulling.

So much in common it physically hurts, not knowing who influenced who or if we have always had exactly the same tastes, been so much the same person. And they say opposites attract. I think we may have been lied to.

In a strange way I like you better this way, it is not all consuming and it doesn’t hurt. You have grown, you fit in your skin better. It suits you more. You are important to me, special. I can’t help it I’ll always love you.
