This is our first attempt at setting up a competition in the booksie arena. We as of yet have no idea how such an attempt will fair. It is a poetry competition and we would very much like everyone
who we have contacted to post their efforts. There are no pre-requites or rules governing this save for two: 1: It must be a poem and not prose and 2: It must address the theme of “love”(whatever
you interpret that to be) in some form. Other than that it can be in whatever form you prefer be that a sonnet, free verse or anything else and there are also no restrictions on word limit so it
can be as long or as short as you’d like.
Please participate in this as it would be awesome to have as many contributors as possible. As an extra incentive if you ever intend for your writing to be published(as I assume many of you do)
then publishers will pay attention to those who have won more reputable competitions which this one will be good practice for. Also the list of benefits for winning are listed at the bottom of this
We will judge the winner based in part on formal elements(rhythm, rhyme[if you choose to incorporate it], language use, structure, tone, mood and so forth) and in part on how sophisticated their
approach is to the theme. I, zer0, am of course tertiary trained to identify both of these components in poetry, namely I have completed five years of a Bachelor of Arts with a double major
in Writing and English at Edith Cowan University in Australia. And Froodle is an accomplished, and impressive, surrealist poet who will also take part in the judging process. Therefore the
judgments will be as fair and objective as is possible. The competition will span over roughly a month, the winner being draw around the 15th of October. If there are any other questions about this
then please feel free to email either of us at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
The prize is simple: prestige in the booksie community. Additionally we shall submit the winning poem to as many reputable online literary magazines as we know of(with your details) on your behalf.
Please post your submissions in the comment thread of this post. :-)
Best of luck to all
Froodle and zer0
