The man was sitting at the blue bench. He wore a blue jacket and a blue scarf. She came and sat down on the other edge of the bench. She wore a red jacket a red scarf. The blue bench had nature decorating it at its best. Red flowers on the man’s side and blue flowers on the woman’s.

It was a pretty sight to see with the sun getting ready to set.

Both of them just sat their silently breathing in the fresh air. An elderly lady came by and jokingly asked them if the couple had a fight. She wanted to know if it was ok for her to sit in between them. The two felt awkward .This was the first time they actually saw each other. Both of them shrugged their shoulders and laughed it off. The old lady sat for a minute and left.

The man turned and looked at her. “Excuse me, but I think we know each other”. He was not sure if she would recognize him. The lady thought- Oh no! The same old line …she glanced at him and said I don’t think so. Her heart then skipped a beat. She had tears in her eyes. She looked at him; his eyes were teary as well. Ten years had passed since they had seen each other.

10 years ago they were inseparable. They completed each other’s sentences .Picked out clothes for each other. Matched all their outfits. Drank out of the same cup, ate from the same plate .They Defined love in every way.

They wanted to get married. He told his father about how much he loved her. His parents told him they approved of her. Then one day there was an emergency at his home. He had to leave. She waited, he never came back. Her dad had warned her it was too good to be true. He was rich she was poor.

There was silence between the two. The leaves of the trees were rustling behind them softly. He asked her “How are you”. She paused for a moment and very quietly said “I am rich”.  The sun set and she started to walk away.

Just then a girl came to her and glanced at the stranger. As they were walking away she giggled and  told her mom - He looks just like me. She was 9 years old.
