My Settee

My Granddad fought in the war so I may be free.

He fought for God, King and Country.

Just for Me.

My Father he fought too, against recession, unemployment, he paid his taxes he was one of few.

Just for Me and perhaps for you.

I am free and between you and me I’m sat here on my settee.

Doing bugger all except watching TV.

Of course there are things in the world with which I disagree

But from the sanctuary of my settee, fighting is not for me.

Send me my benefit cheque and there will be, not a jot of trouble from Me.

Sat on my Arse on my Settee.
