Book / Fantasy
I am an english-speaking student living in Overijse, Belgium. I have lived in Belgium for around twelve years but am originally from South Africa and the majority of my family still lives there. I attend an english-speaking international school with around 1,200 other students.
My enthusiasm for writing and reading was apparent from a relatively young age and though time constraints have meant that I have not read any serious books in quite some time, my love of literature remains strong. I have never finished a story that I have started but have had multiple projects over the course of my pre-pubescent and teenage years. The first story I recall working on was inspired by the 'How to train your dragon' series and was fairly similar to it. I commenced work on a few subsequent stories involving dragons and such things, the one I made the most progress on being set in a near-future, dystopic setting where the world is slowly but surely disintegrating around the orphaned main character and his various companions.
After I failed to make much headway with that project I am ashamed to say that I gave up, thinking that I simply wasn't cut out to write stories of any length. Three or four years would pass before, at age 16, would once more pick up a pen and begin to write. The tale that i had begun to craft while on holiday with my parents in Portugal reached to around the sixty page mark, telling the tale of David Sail and the fantasy world in which he lived. It was a world filled with magic and the supernatural, but ultimately was abaondoned when my holiday came to an end and my momentum slowly began to diminish.
Since then, I have had multiple stop-and-start projects that were started with the best of intentions, but utlimately were never finished.
I have joined this website in the hope of getting feedback and criticism, positive and negative, in an attempt to rekindle my passion for writing and story-telling. I hope that my experiences will prove fruitful and enlightening.
