Profile Information

I am an avid lover of books. There are many I don't prefer and there are many I can respect. While you may wish to digest so many pages in so many bytes, whatever approximates the heart I should have will forever stay transcribed in paper and ink. The feeling of ages long ago and personalities past can be felt in the weight of the parchment and the fold of the letters. Sometimes I find myself collecting books for the shear reason of having more knowledge near me. This was a constant struggle of mind over wallet. Eventually I outgrew the desire when I stumbled through the principle of Quality over Quantity. All the literary novels of the world would not matter if you did not attach part of your soul to them. So instead of reading every book that caught the wind of my whimsical desire, I committed myself to the tale of those I found most endearing. Of course many were added for the shear sake of the utter respect I had for them, even though I may have found them to be a mortal enemy of my literary enjoyment.
This is how I built my library. Everyone has a library and it is more than the books represented on their shelves, it is the books that have held together in their mind and are impressed upon their hearts. This is usually represented by the books on the shelf, but I hoped to give you the idea of what the physical copies represented to a book lover.
My hope is to one day die in a bookvalanche. This will be a passive and life-long goal that I hope will complete my retirement at the ripe and climatic age of 40. As a student in college, I am well on my way to getting this to be a entirely possible situation with the multiple footlockers of books in storage and the thirty boxes of comics that supported my bed frame. If my dorm room was of larger size, maybe then I would house more shelves for more books: like an asylum for the literary insane. And they would be committed for life.
There are some, usually a complete series, that I will read at least one time a year. Others are forgotten and then found again every few years, only to have the joy rekindled as their pages are turned once again. Lastly, there are those that are there because the idea of having them nearby is comforting, just to know that if I did need them, I could count on them to be there.
