The New Year 2018?!

January 1, 2018

Happy New Year!!

Wow, I can't believe it's 2018 already.  I have a good feeling about this year. I don't know what it is, but I just feel good about it.

So, the new year is all about resolutions and I usually find myself more productive when I have set goals and a starting line (being 1.1.18). I have a few goals in mind, so I'm using this time right now to collect my thoughts and (sort of) make it official.

2018 Life Goals:

1. Read More

There's no doubt in my mind that I don't read enough, and so the first and most important goal right now is to read more... a lot more.

  • Read at least 1 book a month.

2. Contribute More

Anyone who knows me IRL knows how anti-social and lazy I am. I realized that this has been making me very selfish lately. Not only will engaging more on Booksie help with writing and networking skills, it'll (hopefully) help and make others happy as well.

  • Read and comment on at least 5 chapters a week on Booksie.

3. Write More

Writing is one of my greatest joys in life that I've been putting off because I've hit a rough patch. As you can see from my official pie chart below, my time can be used a little more efficiently.

  •  What I want to complete in 2018 (In Order)
    • Finish query letter and synopsis
    • Send query letter and synopsis to find potential agent/publisher
    • Finish Watch Me trilogy
    • Get concept art for Watch Me trilogy
    • Self-publish Watch Me trilogy with art
    • Self-edit Rise of the True Kai novel (3rd read-through)
    • Get Rise of the True Kai edited
    • Start posting Rise of the True Kai on Booksie
    • Work on Mecha Misfits
    • Work on The Binding Wager

To be quite honest, all I wanna do (and have been doing) is work on Mecha Misfits and Watch Me Live because writing a query letter and synopsis is turning out to be such a drag >.< every time I tell myself to do it I end up watching anime instead. BUT, I gotta do it. I gotta try. It's gonna happen. Eventually. Soon. I promise.

3. Be Healthier

I guess I won't dwell long on my personal goals. I say that, yet I ended up detailing my candy drawer below.

  • Eat less candy
    • Lol, I have a drawer at my desk that's literally filled exclusively with candy and a 2lb (yes, that's 2 pounds) bag of sour patch kids by my bed.
    • Current candy stash includes:
      • Haribo Berries
      • Half-pound bag of sour gummy bears
      • Wild Berry Skittles
      • Sour Gummy Starbursts
      • A bag of sour Hi-Chews
      • 3 large bars of 90% cocoa chocolate
  • Run twice a week
    • I was really good at working out consistently when I used to play lacrosse. Now I'm a lazy bum.
  • Drink more water
    • People think I'm weird because I really hate water. Any kind of water. To the point where I asked my mom if I could just get an IV drip instead.

There you have it. Somehow this turned into like a blog entry but whatever, it's my news. I don't think many people read this anyway lol.

Good luck with your own life endeavors in 2018!!

Watch Me Live, Kill, Die?!     November 24, 2017

So, I've been thinking... wouldn't it be cool if I made Watch Me Kill into a short story trilogy?! Yeah yeah?? :D I've been developing this idea in the back of my mind. I'm thinking of making a prequel called Watch Me Live and a sequel called Watch Me Die. Doesn't that sound cool?! :D The Watch me Live, Kill, Die Trilogy. :D... I'm drooling over the thought.

Alright, you've convinced me.

Now, idk if I'm going to submit these to the contest BUT I still want to follow the contest guidelines to keep it consistent (e.g. 5,000 word max and short story). If I finish both before the contest due date then maybe I'll submit them. However, I don't think I'll be writing these stories in reverse. It was tricky the first time, especially with the word cap, but I want to make each story unique somehow.

Hmm...  -___-

This is a problem I need to figure out before I do any writing.  *sigh*

Watch Me Kill?!     November 10, 2017

I've finally finished my short story and entered it into the contest!

But more importantly, Happy Veteran's Day! Thank you to all the vets for your service!!

Coming soon...

Thinking about making a 'making of' for Watch Me Kill. I actually learned A LOT writing that short story and I think preserving my thoughts about how I did it will be another good learning experience for myself and possibly others who are interested... or just bored.

Now that I've finished Watch Me Kill, I'm gonna start a new story project called Mecha Misfits!! (YA Sci-fi). Possible unedited/first draft publish date: Januarary 2018 More info later in the month.

Gold Badge?!     October 14, 2017

I just got my first Gold Badge! This badge belongs to everyone :D Thanks again!

Short Stories?!     September 11> Date < October 14 2017

I'm workin on a short story for the contest! It's gonna be a side story to my main story Jago: The Millennium Galaxy Race. It's also going to be a bit on the dark side.

Reading Requests

I've been on Booksie for a while now just working on The Millennium Galaxy Race. I usually just post my stories on here, but I'll occasionally read stories I find interesting. I'm going to try and be more active on the site so I'll be taking a few requests (I can only handle so much because of work) until I turn off my request sign.

Jago: The Millennium Galaxy Race

Vo: The ultimate power in the galaxy. The wielder possesses the strength to rule the entire galaxy and shape it to their will. With Vo's current wielder, the galaxy has been at peace for a thousand years and it’s about to end. One can only wield Vo for a millennium before it is split into four smaller stones and sent across space. A grand race is held to determine who will be the next wielder of Vo and become the new ruler of the galaxy.

The bounty hunting ship Jago and her crew are reluctant to participate in the race, but someone strong and vicious has been eyeing them. It doesn't help that aboard their ship is the most powerful of the fighting species, an Eyes of Blue, and they soon become a target as a lust for more power. There is no better opportunity to claim the title of the greatest fighter and ruler of the galaxy, than with the Millennium Galaxy Race.

Jago: The Rise of the True Kai (aka The Past)

(Complete [In editing stage])

The Jago is one of the most successful bounty hunting ships in the galaxy, rapidly rising to Class 1 within only a few years.

Cashel: Captain - Former Millennium Galaxy Racer

Tamsin: Navigator/Pilot/Doctor/Technician/Mechanic/Tactician - The last Livindev

Akiko: Extractor - The greatest fighter in the galaxy

Rei: Intel Gatherer/Sharpshooter - The most wanted Eyes of Red

Trash: Companion - The only human in the crew

This is their past...

Jago: The Binding Wager (aka The Future)

(50% complete, currently on hiatus)

It’s six years after the events of the Millennium Galaxy Race and Sarth is once again back in space. This time he has his friend Stellan with him and under his guidance. They are both crew members of the smuggling spaceship, Constance, under the command of Captain Balt.

Everything in the galaxy appears peaceful under the new Crux Council Order, but recent and sudden resources laws have everyone questioning the motives of the newly empowered Council, especially when it is discovered that secret deals have been made with the powerful and detached planet of Thereon.

It doesn’t take long for Sarth and the others to find out who’s pulling the strings and what their plans are, and what they find is just as mortifying, if not worse, as the late power-loving Kai Ozias.

The past, present, and future collide in this last trilogy of the Jago Series!
