I grew up in Texas, Arkansas, and New Mexico, and served as a Navy officer on an aircraft carrier. My ship’s home port was at NAS Alameda (near San Francisco) and when deployed, we operated in the Gulf of Tonkin, conducting air strikes against North Vietnam (1965-67). My work draws upon these experiences, among others.
As a retired university Professor Emeritus, I have numerous social science publications, including two books.
I recently completed three online courses in creative writing, and I have published about half a dozen nonfiction pieces. I am a member of SouthWest Writers; their critique service has given me encouraging feedback on some of my previous nonfiction work, as well as the suggestion to undertake a novel—something I had never before considered. Gifts of Snowflakes is the result. I have greatly enjoyed writing it.
This is my first work of fiction, and my first novel.
My wife Melinda and I have a small mixed terrier named Mikey. He is a true "lap dog" and--if left to his own devices--would spend the whole day in our laps.
