About

Hello. My name is James More.

I was born in Nevada, in the small town of Wellington on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I spent my young years being raised by my mother around the San Diego area. Then we moved to Ohio to live with my grandparents. I spent my teenage years in Elyria and Lorain, Ohio. I seemed to have been a rebel from birth concerning social ideologies. This eventually manifested itself in my teens. I ran away from home three different times. The last time, I was given the choice to either join the military, or enter a juvenile detention facility. I wasn't entirely stupid, so I joined the Navy.

I was still a bit of a rebel to custom and authority, and got into some minor scrapes in the service, but eventually I tamed down and got into the spirit of the team concept. I spent four years in the Navy, with three and a half of those years in the destroyer fleet in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. One of the schools I went to, in service, was to learn to operate small landing craft, and other similar types of boats. Having qualified on several types of such craft, I came under the searching gaze of the Marines. When I tried to re-enlist in the Navy at the end of my four-year stint, I was given the opportunity to transfer to the Marines, with several accompanying benefits, including greater rank and a lot of money. I accepted. I spent almost two tours in Vietnam, with the 3rd Marines in a Recon unit as a riverboat driver. Then, we got blown up in an operation, and I was med-evac'd out of the service.

I spent the remaining years of my life learning and working three different trades. As soon as I was released from the military, I became an over-the-road trucker. I did that for about four years, until an incident in Amarillo, Texas scared the trucking right out of me. Then, I went to trade school to learn electronics. I used my GI bill for education, completed the school and went to work for AT&T, working microwave radio stations in the mountains. When the technology grew past that kind of communication, I learned how to transcribe Braille for blind people, and I continued doing that until I retired. I have completed my Associate program at University of Phoenix in IT.

I am married to a wonderful woman who is the world’s best baker (cookies, cakes, pies, Ahh!). We have been married for 20 years and I have loved her every minute of the time. My wife and I live across the highway from a CIA base that trains pilots to  operate the Predator and Reaper UAVs for overseas missions.

I enjoy Celtic/Gaelic music, playing combat FPS's on the pc, exploring the backcountry via 4WD. I also attempt to write short stories and poetry. I’d like to add that I have taught Bible lessons for adults, for the last 15 years, and have recently retired from that, as well.
