Profile Information

This was begging to be changed and now I finally got to it.

My name is Benyoucef, some of my friends call me Ben, I'm 24 years old, I'm a senior in electrical and electronic engineering, a part time graphic designer, and english tutor, and most importantly...a poet.

I started writing poems in arabic since I was 10 years old, and the experience of writing in arabic is very hard and consuming, but its results are always memorable, I can always remember the first poem i wrote about "Ibn Badiss", an algerian revolutionary imam during the french occupation. I wrote that poem under pressure from the teacher who assigned each pupil a task, and mine was to find a poem about Ibn Badiss. I couldn't find anything on him at home, and being the kid that I was, I decided to write it myself, after all, who would notice ?. A lot of people were amazed by that poorly written, forcefully rhymed poem just because it was written by a 10 year old, but that support helped me write more and grow into the poet that I am.

In high school, my english teacher saw that I spoke fluently and thought that I should combine it with poetry and write in english which I thought was absurd, but after 3 years, I wrote my first poem in english while I was on a bus, and "Where Flowers Are To Be Eaten" came to life, a poem most of my friends consider to be my best, which I find very limiting and flattering at the same time. was the first website that embraced my poetry and it helped me evolve through the works of my fellow writers, their comments, likes and support.

Comments are very important on BOOKSIE, I'd like to receive them as much as I'd like to write them since they keep you going with this mad skill, and I'm happy to take a look at any work of anybody here, as long as it's poetry, so feel free to contact me with your requests.

Thank you for bearing with me.
