I am a 20 years old female who is madly in love with the pen, paper and alphabets. I am a student at UKZN currently studying Physiology. Believe me when I say I would rather be studying literature and Arts. I fell in love with writing during a depressing time in my life when I used to write letters to myself. All I ever did back then was read but I never gave much thought to come up with a story or a poem. I was 14 when I started writing poetry that was well-liked by my peers . From that day until now my poetry focuses mainly on love. We are different and have been given different talents and poetry is not a a matter of waking up and deciding that you will write about war when war is the least of your concerns. We aim to express what seems to be taking root in our hearts and I have so much of love inside of me that it amazes me(so why am I single...? LOL). All I ever think of gets to be put on paper. I love to express myself through writing because that is when I am most free to say what I want without being disturbed or being talked back at. The art of writing is a gift from God. The fact that one can take simple words and arrange them in such a way that they bring about an effect, they create emotion and they bring about change is very fascionating. I believe that the heart of a writer is the deepest heart that has thoughts that can only be discussed through pen and paper. The world needs more of this...people who will join the revolution of the arts of writing, the arts of making a diffrence,of enlightening,of bringing about a positive change and the best emotions out of people,an art to educate by the simplicity of using words. OUR WORDS ARE POWERFUL...They preach awareness over lives and they have to be known and shared amongst the people. We as writers must take full responsibility to use the gift of writing in order to create a more loving world. We have been chosen because we are special and we are capable. I am special, you are special,we are special...we will make a change!!!
