LaTeciara was born in Charleston, SC. She is the Great-Great Granddaughter of Sue Alston, the daughter of former enslaved people who spent their lives on Hampton Plantation on the South Santee River.
LaTeciara spent her youth in Brooklyn, NY but in the last decade she relocated and settled in the greater Charlotte area of North Carolina.
She’s been writing a mix of prose and poetry for over ten years and has even written and produced several of her own songs.
