Profile Information

John began life in 1926 and grew up in and around a small village called Annesley Woodhouse in Nottinghamshire. On leaving school and going into the world of work it was down the coalmines he went, as did his father before him. In his early adult life John worked at several of Nottinghamshires pits including Linby, Hucknall, and Annesley to name but a few. In his later life he became a school caretaker, and also ran a bookmakers shop. On retirement John started to write poetry and short stories, and had his first book ‘Jacks Village Tales’ published by Rabbit Books in October 2001. John continues to write to this day. Most of his tales contain humour and a look at life from yesteryear. So please everyone feel free to read John’s stories and poems, and I hope they will give you much pleasure.
