I had never been a huge writing fan for most of my life. At my schools, writing projects consisted of simple, non-fiction research papers that bored me to tears. I never thought I was very good at non-fiction, so I decided I wasn't a good writer.
In seventh grade, I was assigned my first ever real writing assignment. We were told to "go nuts" and write a horror story about any topic we wanted. I did as I was told and went nuts. My story turned out to be really good. It boosted my confidence enough to begin writing more stories, elevating to my first short novel, which I finished when I was twelve (it was bad!).
Writing is the only thing I have been able to do for a long period of time without getting bored. I hope to become a screenwriter one day, but the tempt of writing novels will probably always be in the back of my mind. I like the thought of my words bringing an audience to tears, whether that means the story was sad or so good that people are upset when it is over.
I'm fourteen and in high school with my twin sister. I've had the worst writer's block for almost a year, so I'm hoping that by signing up for this site, I'll manage to shake it.
