Hello there, (I have never done this type of thing before)

I have just published my first book "Wolves at the Door" on Amazon Kindle, an account of the Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle manslaughter trials of 1921-1922. The story is essentially about the trials and how the prosecution and defense put their cases together for the 'trial of the century' and the never ending involvement of William Randolph Hearst.  I was amazed at how little has changed about how the media handles celebrity trials from a century ago right through the Simpson trial and up to today.

I wrote the book from the perspective of the lawyers and the judges and witnesses to give the reader a better sense of being 'there' and without doubt these people would be just as current and interesting in this day and age. Matthew Brady, the district attorney, was so obsessed with winning the case that his team pulled every trick in the book out to slant the evidence and public opinion his way.

Roscoe never had a chance against Hearst and Brady despite the fact that Brady put together one of the worst cases imaginable. The story is also interesting in that a number of significant events of the 20th century were occuring at the same time of the trial giving it some historical context as well. Sometimes we forget that what goes on the world does not happen independently from other imporant events and the story threads itself through some of them (Babe Ruth and John McGraw, the death of the Pope, even Sgt York is here)

Anyway, looking forward to talking books with everyone. Thanks. Elmer.
