Hello, I'm Emma Bryce from South Africa. I am 19years old and I am currently studying at UCT in Cape Town. It is truly beautiful up there. I am hugely interested and passionate about four things: the environment, art, Africa, and of course writing! I joined this site to try and get back up on my feet and to learn to write for fun again. You forget to do that when you write purely for academic reasons. What else can I say? I am a vegetarian, but still miss the smell of a good old South African braai (barbeque). I spend a lot of my time in the sea in summer - I love to swim and attempt surfing! My favourite creature on earth is the gorilla, and I am determined to visit them one day. My lifelong dream is to simultaneously travel and write (but not to be a travel-writer: too many of those!!). The most beautiful book I have ever read is The Poisonwood Bible; and my favourite poet in the entire world is e. e. cummings. The reason I'm joining this community is firstly because it sounds encouraging and fun, but secondly and more importantly because I believe that encouraging writer creativity is so important. Too often, people have so much to say and so much going on in their heads, and no channels for expressing it. And writing is, I really believe, one of the most important channels for change. So there you go. I am excited about joining this community, and would appreciate any kind of response to the stuff I post up. Thanks xxx
