Postpartum depression led to therapy, to keeping a journal, to writing the bedtime stories I've been telling myself since I was a child. I took night courses in creative writing at the community college where my work was met with much praise. I was only 27/28 then. After trying to get published for over 5 years, I had to give up for my family's sake and get a real job
The kids long ago grew up and moved away. I cannot work any more due to health problems; severe spinal arthritis, nerve damage and constant pain. But I can still type and for the time being, and as long as the pain meds don't dull my brain too much, I'd like to give this just one more try. It's so much easier to post to a website than it is to buy so many stamps, remember to include the SASE, cover letter, synopsis ... I hated having to do all that but I did it.
About a month ago, nineteen years after I wrote my last short story, I was sitting at my computer reading facebook posts when I was struck by the urge to write again. The impetus came suddenly and was overwhelming, like being hit in the head with a brick!
So here I go.
Wish me luck and Thanks to all those who will read my words.
