I was born and raised in a small and idyllic town called “Ystad” located in the south of Sweden. Despite constantly drawing my own comics, scripting my own computer games, and writing very long “short” stories, becoming an author was never something I considered as a child. Instead, I wanted to become a geneticist. It was not until high school I realised biology was not for me (mainly because of my biology teacher. He was the first person ever to bore me to sleep during class.) If I were not to study science, what would I do? It did not take long before I found the answer to that question. I wanted to write. I always wanted to write.

At the age of 15 I decided to see if my new found career was as interesting as I thought it would be, and I embarked on my first novel. After writing only 30 pages, experimenting with style and narration, I had an epiphany. A man in a long white coat appeared before me and showed me a world of utopian beauty. That world was mine – and I was its God. In a split second the structure for a new novel had been imprinted into my mind. It was a novel unlike anything else. I scratched the previous 30 pages and began anew. From that day I spent every free day working on my new novel. Not only had the content of my novel changed since my epiphany, but the language changed as well. Being born and raised in Sweden it was natural for me to write in Swedish, but this time I did not. Instead I wrote in English, a language I had far from mastered. Thankfully, I just started the International Baccalaureate diploma program at Malmö Borgarskola, which would improve my English considerably.

There was still a long way to go before my skills as an author were anywhere near adequate for publishing. To improve my writing I applied for the English with Creative Writing degree at the University of Birmingham. After three years of hard work I received my BA and went back to Sweden to keep writing. The project I began as a 15 year old, however, had been put on hold after writing over 120 000 words, roughly 360 pages. This is because of a wish to turn my University dissertation into a full-fledged novel. Once that post-apocalyptic tale is done I will finish what I started so many years ago – and the world will never be the same.
