I write not for those who have the girl, but for those who sat idly by listening to her talk about him wishing every moment that she would be theirs. Not for the kids who lead stable lives, but the kids who press on through the years of a world falling apart around them. Not for those who lead the pampered upbringing, but those who lasted through every enraged, crazed, unneeded, drunken beating. For those who lie awake in the middle of the night rethinking every mistake of the day. For those who cry themselves to sleep praying that someone, somewhere, someday will care even in the slightest. For those who's family never really felt like a family. For the guys and girls who were used by a heartless asshole. To those whose past is shrouded with darkness and regret. The Underlings. The Outcast. The Broken. The Fallen. The Bastards. Those whose only escape from their life is putting on their headphones and escaping into the recesses of their mind.

I began writing for the tortured souls. The ones who can't escape their minds. Who run from themselves. Who dread being alone because it only makes them realize how lonely they truly are. For the guy who spent his years cheating. For the person who burned one to many bridges. For the girl who partied a little too hard.

We are those who stand on the precipice of hope. Contemplating escape but never jumping not because we can't but because we see it would be too easy. We are those who live for ourselves in spite of you. We are those who don't make good decisions but own up to them. We are those who can't afford to lose any more to a world always taking.

"I’m here. I love you. I don’t care if you need to stay up crying all night long, I will stay with you. There’s nothing you can ever do to lose my love. I will protect you until you die, and after your death I will still protect you. I am stronger than Depression and I am braver than Loneliness and nothing will ever exhaust me." - Elizabeth Gilbert

My promise to you all.
