Joseph Hirscher - Curator of Hirsch Novels

I am a fifteen and a quarter year old boy who attends school as part of the Year 10 group. My most able and most loved subject at school has always been English - whether it be Literature or Launguage, from the age of around 9 years. I have what I believe to be an unrivalled ambition to write cutting edge, thought provoking novels with, perhaps, the possibility of them one day making it onto the 'big screen'. What I love most is coming up with brand new original ideas and being able and capable enough to write them into a plot which compells and excites a reader, whilst conjuring up unsettlingly provocative thoughts in their mind at the same time. I simply adore creative writing.

Three years ago when I was twelve, me and a few of my closest friends found nothing better to do during a rainy lunchtime at Gartree High School in Oadby, Leicestershire, than to sit and think - up thriller stories, if not horror, thinking back. It was absolutely exhilirating - the excitement and anticipation we could conjure up inside ourselves simply through the use of young open minds, imagination, and the inspiration we could feed off of each other as our ideas came flying out into conversation. They were happy times.

It was a short time after this period when something of a subconscious nature tapped me on the back and sharply advised me to put my business brain on. I knew I / we had fantastic ideas, and what I also knew was that I was pretty capable with a pen in my hand. So it hit me - I should start writing books. And that was when it started. Halfway through my twelth year of life, I embarked upon a journey which I am very much still venturing through now. At first, I wrote a 57,000 word book entitled; "Killing Time", which was born entiely out of the ideas me and my peers had created. The storyline was basic - a classic cat and mouse between a notorious but illusive serial killer and his latest scheduled victim. But I always knew, not just post-finishing the book, but even whilst I was creating it, that it wasn't the quality writing I already wanted to aspire to. However, that isn't to say it wasn't actually littered with bodies of writing which others described as 'ingenius' for a person of that age. But I knew the storyline wasn't going to do my ability justice in truth...

So; I found myself in the surprisingly amiable position of literary vacancy. What should I write next? This place was good. Exciting. I liked it. After months of writing the same thing, I suddenly found myself once again open to any possibility. Blank white paper. The answer to my wonderous question came to me one night whilst I was watching Newsnight with my dad. There was an article on the growingly troublesome situation in Russia concerning rising illegal drug usage levels partnered with unemployment soaring in various parts of the vast siberian land. Suddenly, I was inspired. I remember it like it was yesterday. (Apologies for the cliché). I was going to write a novel. And not just one novel, but three. I was about to write my first trilogy. 2011 passed and now I'm here in 2012...

I don't wish to give too much more information about this trilogy at the present time, as I am still writing the second instalment. The overall title of the books is Silent Movements. These books will be the first three to ever be labelled 'Hirsch Novels'. The books are thrillers - and although soldiers are heavily involved in the storyline I hope with all my heart that people don't instantly judge me as a young boy whose fascination with guns and fighting is unbreakable. Because I am not simply a boy obsessed by violence, as many mature adults would presume me to be, undoubtedly. I never played with toy guns as a child and I have, since as far back as I can recall, always been told that I am not only of a high intelligence, but also of a remarkable sensitivity for someone of my age. I'm not a fifteen year old boy trying to write books. I'm a quality writer who looks like a fifteen year old boy. I've been told by my teachers at school that when they read my writing, it gives them a special feeling inside - that they can't believe it in it's essence, maturity, elegance and creativity. I'm not boastful either, it's just that I feel it important to include. I also believe I have a good sense of humour as it goes, and any potentially 'ignorant' pieces of writing within this Bio are intended with all humour, I assure you. The basic information about my first trilogy; Silent Movements, is given below.

  • Three novels each of approximately 60,000 words
  • Genre: Modern, near-futuristic intelligent thriller
  • Titles: SM: Insertion, SM: Assault, SM: Termination (Previous overall Title was Drugland)
  • I am currently 39,000 words through the second book, progress is not always speedy as schoolwork often intervenes

In summary, I am a young (ish) boy who wishes to be able to write for a living. I think I have the ability, the ambition, and the state of mind to be able to get myself published, and hopefully that will happen in the not so far-away future. If I can achieve success at a young age and get my name well-known, and even achieve publication one way or another, I think the possibilities for my future with and in writing are endless. Thankyou sincerely for reading my Bio, now please take care to read my books!
