I owe all my thanks to being included on this site to a crumpled, dirty sheet of paper in my Language Arts class.  My Language Arts proffesor had been giving the whole class a lecture on George Orwells "classic" novel 1984.  Thiswas the same book that literally made me bleed out of my eyes, so I wasn't paying attention.  Maybe a half an hour into the lecture, I found a nasty, scrunched sheet of paper under my desk.  It was blank on both sides, so I absentmidedly began writing on it.

An hour later, a nearly-finished short story was sitting in front of me.  It was short, stupid, and really bizarre, and I don't really remember what it was about (something about a paintball tournament and poverty).  But, when the bell finally rang, and we all hustled out of the classroom (I personally sprinted out screaming, "Thank God!"), I forgot about it.  I found it on my desk the next day with Check out written across it in my proffesor's handwriting.  I'm spending more time on the computer because my teacher recommended it.  How weird is that?

I don't think I've posted enough work to have a certain writing style, but looking back on what I've written in the past, I guess you could say most of my writing is a bit dark, but not "horror" dark.  The stories I post will probably be centering around animals or war.  Or both.

Call me crazy, but I've always prefered animal characters over human ones.  I can't really explain why that is, I just do.  Part of it might be that I come from a family with way too many pets and a sister on her way to becoming a veternarian.  Maybe it might be because I have what I consider the two greates dogs ever created, Gracey and Finn.  Or maybe it's because I grew up around the Redwall series my whole life.  Some of my stories will focus around anthromorphacy (giving animals human-like traits), but probably not all of them.

Movies & Shows: Black Hawk Down, Band of Brothers, Glory, Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan, MST3K, Family Guy, Milo and Otis, Aliens, Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, Planet Earth, and a lot more I can't think of right now....

Interests: Swimming, Reading, Writing, Playing the piano, airsofting, D & D (pen and paper RPG's), checking out booksie (durhay), and spending time with my two dogs, Gracey and Finn.

Books: The Green Mile, The Stand, The Long Walk, The Redwall series, Far Side, Calvin & Hobbes, The Giver, Anthem, Kite Runner, The Shawshank Redemption, anything by Max Brooks.... I could go on.

Music: Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, The Lonely Island, Flight of the Concords, ACDC, Journey, Counting Crows, The Dixie Chicks, Marc Cohn, Elton John, and (best band in existence) Five For Fighting.

Reading: World War Z, by Max Brooks

Recommended Authors

She has posted some of the most beautiful, deep, and thought-provoking poetry I have ever read.  She has the unique ability to put abstract feelings into words (a talent I am really jealous of!)  Matius also writes excellent romance novels.  She seems to have her own, unique style.  I keep trying to tell her to go proffessional (she could do it!).  As far as best works go, there are way too many to list.  Highly recommended.

Also, Matius, thanks for everything.

Manders is another poet I highly recommend.  Her poetry encompasses a wide variety of topics, from the mundane to surreal. My personal favorite of hers is "A Butterfly in Afghanistan." Somehow, she captured the horror of war, and found a spark of hope among the carnage.  Definitely recommended.

behindthesmile86 is a poet, and a good one at that.  Her poetry, based on what I've read, seems to focus on self-discovery, friendship, love, and occasionally just raw spirituality.  Her poems are deep and definitely make you think.  Also, she doesn't seem to have many readers.  Recommended

Taylor's current novel, "Forever Sunrise", is probably the best novel I've read on this site.  Once you read it, all you can do is say great things and keep going.  Recommended.

Sanelunatic has a wide variety of stories, all of them excellent.  I recommend "The Feminine Charm" and "Heart of a Hunter".  And I think she hates pandas...  Recommended.

This list is probably going to be updated frequently.  More and more talent is logging on every day.

Remember, it isn't an author's job to find inspiration, but to recognize it when it comes.  --Stephen King
