Profile Information

J.R. Corbin was born in New England, more specifically Rhode Island, and grew up there, leaving home in 1968 to join the Navy. He has been writing for about twenty years, and has published two novels, a chapbook, and several short stories. His chapbook entitled, ‘Fields of Grain’, was self published through DreamScape Publishing, LLC, his own company, and a short story, ‘Night Eagles’, was published in Firstwriter Magazine. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1981, with a degree in Vocational Education. After a twenty year Naval career, he continued in the field of education and training as an Instructional Systems Designer, specializing in computer based training programs. He has always been an advocate for the underdog. As a baby boomer, one of his childhood author heroes was Horatio Alger. In J.R.'s words, "It still causes a lump in my throat when I see someone overcome overwhelming odds to pull themselves up and continue the battle. I am not sure how much those stories affected my life personally, but I do know that they were the inspiration for a few of my stories.
