My writing life happened late in this journey. 

Saddled with a job I hated, I sent in a request to write for a boxing website. Some friends laughed at my efforts. I didn’t expect a reply. 

Happily, I was wrong. Anthony Cocks saw something in my scribbles and told me to write some more.  

A few years later, I was heading up maxboxing as lead writer and editor. In 2016 I penned (along with Dennis Taylor) Intimate Warfare: The True Story of the Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward Boxing Trilogy. The reviews were astounding. 

Blood On My Notebook: Dispatches from The World of Professional Boxing appeared in 2019. Blood is a collection of my favorite work going back to when I began writing. Last year, I collaborated with Jerry Fitch to write: A Few More Rounds: A Collection of Boxing Stories. Like Intimate Warfare, both volumes received rave reviews.
