My novel, "An American Love Song in Survival Japanese" has recently been published on (and all other Amazons – JP, UK, etc.) as a Kindle eBook. I have also enrolled this novel in Kindle Select so it is also available on Kindle Unlimited as well. In order to do this, however, I was required to delete all but the opening 10% of the text of the book on Booksie as a SAMPLE with a link to its page on Amazon at the end of it. I also hope to have a paperback edition of it available on all Amazons in the next few weeks. I hope you will enjoy reading my story even more on Amazon than you have on Booksie. For one thing the formatting is much better on Kindle than it is on Booksie and if you have a Kindle reader of some sort, you can easily change the font size, margins, etc. to your favorite settings and make it even easier for you to read. If you have a Kindle device or similar, I reccomend that you download the free sample of this novel from Amazon and read it first rather than read this sample on Booksie..

Also, please note that the cover for the Amazon version is quite different from the Booksie version. It has the title in large, gold script letters and a background color of bright green. I've found this is much more legible and conspicuous in thumbnails, etc., than my wife's relief sculpture, “Together”.I am purposely leaving her cover on Booksie, however, since I think it is truly a work of art. But even if you blow up the Booksie cover, it still blurs way too much to really appreciate the intricate detail in clay she puts into her work. If you are at all interested in this work, please visit her Website “” (NOT “, which is her much older site) and view, not only this work, but many of her later works as well. and in much better detail and much larger format. -- kw]

Profile Information

I'm a writer who who wants to be judged by my writing, not by my profile. If you read my very short essay, “To All My Students” (of Notre Dame Women's College, Kyoto, Japan), you will probably get you a fairly good idea of where I live, what I've done, and my approximate age. If that gets you interested enough to read my much longer but still somewhat short novel, An American Love Song in Survival Japanese, I certainly hope you will enjoy that, too, and get some idea as to what kind of person I am.

Disclaimers: Although many of the events that occur in my story are based on my own personal experiences and/or those of my friends, I am not Gordy. I graduated from college and later got an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language. And while I am very happily married to a Japanese female who speaks very good English, we've spoken only Japanese with each other ever since we first met. And no, she is not one of my former students. And no, she is definitely not Mariko.

I plan to post more of my stories on Booksie about living as a gaijin here in Japan and maybe some SF. I hope you will read them, too. And if your enjoy them . . . Hey great! I've done my job. If not . . . Sorry! All I can say is, I did my damnedest for you.

Warning: I'm a very slooooowww writer. I agonize for hours over every single paragraph, every single sentence, every single word, every single coma, every single space, and every single period . . . so you don't have to!
