Profile Information

I was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1949. I dropped out of high school at the age of seventeen and joined the U.S. Army. I served with A Co. 2/501st of the 101st Airborne Division and did a one year tour of duty as a combat medic in the Republic of Vietnam. On completing my military obligation I returned home to Baltimore and joined the Baltimore City Police Department where I stayed until retirement in 1999. I then went to work for the District Court of Maryland as a courtroom bailiff and served in that compacity for fifteen years. I no longer work. I have authored five works of poetry, Tortured Soul, American Literary Press Inc. 1997, Dead Men Calling, American Literary Press Inc. 2002,Thoughts of You, Tate Publishing & Enterprises, LLC, 2011, Reflections, Create Space Independent Publishing Platform, 2013 and My Long Journey in Baltimore, Dorrance Publishing Co. 2019. Tortured Soul and Dead Men Calling were works of poetry of my experiences in Vietnam. In 2009, I was diagnosed with coronary artery disease and put together writings and poems I wrote to my wife while working the midnight shift in a police district in Baltimore City which I dedicated to her in Thoughts of You. Reflections was a little book of poetry I put together while working as a district court bailiff in Baltimore. My fater-in-law suffered with dementia and on his passing I wrote a poem titled Dementia which gave me the inspiration for Reflections. My Long Journey in Baltimore is a collection of poems of my experiences and problems in life to include some of my Vietnam poems. I have an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies from Catonsville Community College. My wife Sandy and I have been married for forty-seven years. We have two sons, Lawerence Jr. and Nicholas and three wonderful grand children. In my spare time I like to write poems, ride my bicycle, and watching new releases at the movie theater.
