Profile Information

I am 19 years old and was born in raised in Baltimore, MD. I wanted to be a writer ever since I was eight but I stopped when I was a sophmore in high school. Now, after just completing high school, I was decided to start writing again, and intend to double major in Literature and Creative Writing at Goucher College. Unfortunately, a lot of my writing material got lost during those two years between sophomore year and now, so I don't have that much to present. I don't know how many of you are out there, but I LOVE to read graphic novels and comics. My favorite authors include Steve Niles, Mike Carey, and Todd McFarlane (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) as well as Garth Ennis, Ben Templesmith, Gary Reed, Hideyuki Kikuchi, and James O'Barr. I'm hoping that some of you have heard of (and probably even read) graphic novel series such as Deadworld, Hellblazer, Spawn, 30 Days of Night, Vampire Hunter D, and Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse. I also enjoy reading single graphic novels such as Criminal Macabre, Silent Hill: Dying Inside, Welcome to Hoxford, The Crow, and The Mammoth Book of Best Horror Comics. Furthermore, the greatest book I have ever read is Dante's Inferno. Not only was I attracted by Dante Alighieri's gruesome interpretation of Hell, but also the allegorical significance behind how the layers of Hell are organized as well as who inhabits them.

As you can probably guess, I love to read horror comics and write horror short stories and poetry. Most people would be repulsed, since they would claim either that they don't have the stomachs for horror or that it possesses no literary substance. I personally don't care what they think, because I believe that horror possesses a great amount of  poetry that can not be matched by any other form of popular fiction (i.e. science fiction, fantasy, romance, mystery, et cetera). I believe that all elements of horror, such as darkness, monsters, blood, and gore are all beautiful in an eerie way, because they are metaphors for powerful human emotions. However, if you are not a fan of horror, you shouldn't read any of my stories. In addition, if you are no fan of horror, you are in no position to judge my stories, because you probably know anything about the genre at all. Yet, if you are a fan of horror and you are curious about any of my stories, then by all means, go ahead and read them. I am open to any criticism from people who are familiar with the horror genre, and will gladly accept any improvements that someone might suggest.
