Profile Information

First, let it be known that credit must be given where credit is due. With that said, the profile photo image I uploaded was taken by a friend, namely, Charles Sappington. Even if my sister took the photo she deserves the credit. Now, moving forward, I love to write and have somewhat of a storied childhood. I grew up during a period of segregation, which was supposed to be long past, but in reality, was not. Strangely, I only figured out at age 54 why there were only white children in my classroom and why my neighbor friend wasn't allowed to play wtih me because my family associated with families on, "the other side of the tracks," as it was referred to, but I really did not understand truly what it meant.  At the time, I took it personally, like there was something wrong with ME, which left me with a stigma I stuggled with my whole life, even now, at age 62. Children are impressionable. Ultimately, when we consider our lives, our viewpoints, or self-perceptions, they stem from much more than the home environment in which we grew up and the influential relationships we had at the time.
