My name is Emma, and I am completely new to writing poetry.
At my school (7th grade, 13 years old), there was a "Young Author's" contest that I had won, by writing poetry, and All of by teachers had said that I could deffinetly turn some of my poems to proffessional grade works. I had always loved reading poetry growing up, although I had no training in actually WRITING poems. But, I had always had a great respect for poets and how easily I could get lost in the heartfelt words before me.
So, in the past few years, I have been going through quite a lot of problems at home. My mom had begun drinking, my parents divorced, and I felt as though my family had turned away from me. I have also had to deal with moving over 7 times in my life, which I can honestly say has put me through inner hell. To this day, all of these occurances have changed me to be a way too mature person for my age. Which is somewhat bitter-sweet. But, one day, I had heard of my Young Author's contest and thought that would be a brilliant way to channel all of my feelings and inner emotions in ways that no counselor or therapist could ever make happen, even if I didn't win.
So, I hope that you will give me some honest imput on my work. I know that the "judges" enjoyed it, but I would like some actual feedback from fellow poets like you (If I could even refer to myself as a poet...) Thank you so much for taking the time to read my works! And please, leave some feedback! Don't worry about hurting my feelings, I need some honest judgement. Don't hold back.
