Profile Information

Born in rhode island and started moving west at an early age. when i reached hawaii i returned to california as going further west would be east. moving has positives and negatives. on the plus side one learns to adapt and realise there's only one race - the human race. seeing new and different things does broaden one's horizons. negatives are; you leave friends and in the case of sports you lose mentoring and support (i could slam dunk at fifteen and was told by a pro scout that i had a double a arm at that age so had i stayed in pennsylvannia...). I've fought huge wild fires and have done this and that and have travelled around the country, central and south america and parts of asia. the medical profession has been good to me and given a great safety net (which has been shrinking since reagan) to take time to travel and to write. I have irish catholic, jewish and wasp heritage and thru my mother i grew up in politics and was active in civil rights in my teens (i have an interesting story of the first time i expericenced hate). had a hemenway (no, not the author) scholarship from UH in manoa which is the time i decided to get serious about my writing. from my teens and to several colleges i was active (in some sundry and divers capacities) with school newspapers. i'm interested in the dynamics of individuals and interactions between people. my life's motto: life is serious...but you cannot take it seriously. we one have one shot at this corporeal existance and we get no do-overs so i believe one should grow and develop yet not without enjoyment. my work in the psych field has given my some insight into humanness as well as many potential stories. i definately write from what i know (or think i know which is essentially the same thing).
